Blue Moon

There is to be a blue moon tomorrow night and they can only only be seen once in a blue moon!

Hope somebody will be able to take a photo of it.

Ironically, tomorrow is Neil Armstrong's funeral and I'm sure he would have loved to see that.

Re: Blue Moon

I've not heard of a blue moon before Mollie, so hope I get to see it. Don't know about taking a photo though, I'm not good at moons

Re: Blue Moon

Sounds very interesting but don't expect it to be the colour blue

Ah flipping heck, I thought it was going to be tinged with blue Thanks Mags, so I now know what a blue moon is Actually the moon tonight looks like a full moon but it seems as if this is tomorrow.

Re: Blue Moon

To be honest, I didn't know where the phrase "once in a blue moon" came from, but now I know, so thanks for the link Mags.

There are so many song titles attributed to this unusual phenomenon and I know this isn't the Music Section, but how many songs can you think of:

Blue Moon of Kentucky, for starters!

I have seen yellow moons, orange moons and pink moons but like Marian, I'm no good a photographing the moon, so I've never captured one.

Re: Blue Moon

It's a shame really as it would have been quite a sight!

Re: Blue Moon

You've been figgling again, Jimmy!

Marian, it is a full moon tonight, and it will be again tomorrow night, but probably not quite as blue as Jimmy's photo!

Re: Blue Moon

Its probably a Blue Moon because its Neil Armstrongs funeral. How apt.

Re: Blue Moon

Saw the moon last night, actually it was as bright almost as daylight, I got up to see if Joe had left the light on outside.
