What is it?

I came across this interesting old photograph recently and there are no details about it, anyone know what it's all about?
Suggestions welcome. I think it's the first flying Olympic Stadium.

Jem it's the ancient sport of 'bobbin bouncing ' played only in Derbyshire by mill workers on their yearly day off .

Re: What is it?

Your havin' me on Meg, bobbin' bouncing is a rap song by "The Grits", besides if that's the bobbin I'd love to see the size of the sewing machine.

Re: What is it?

Thanks for that Meg, I can put a name to it now. I knew there were all sorts of strange games played back then, like rolling a large cheese down a hill and many others.

Jem I understand the Spinning Jenny featured above was made from a pest resistant tree which was genetically engineered at University College Dublin in 1931 by Sir Gerald Barker and a team of bright students
