Royal Princes at Olympics

So, here we go again. Princes William and Harry are to attend around 30 events during the Olympics.

Just remind me though, haven't we just spent quillions of pounds training them to do a necessary job with the forces? Isn't that what they said they were desperate to do? Isn't William supposed to be rescuing people in distress, and isn't Harry supposed to be spending 6 months killing people in Afghanistan as payback?

What an absolute waste of taxpayers time and money.... If they want to be Royal Princes that's fine, I've got no problem with that. If they want to be pilots in the forces then that's fine, but for goodness sake make your minds up lads, stop wasting our cash and taking a job from someone who wants it and can do it just as well or even better....

It would seem, influential people need to be more inert, let events take their course, dabblers are the curse of stability.

So, if the Princes are to be allowed access to the Olympics, does that mean that the threat of a terrorist attack no longer exists and that all the security could be stood down?

As the Queen will be opening the Olympics I think it is right and proper that the princes attend. They don't "want to be princes" they have no choice they were born into it

I agree Val they didn't have a choice whether to be princes, but they sure had a choice whether to take elitist, high profile "jobs" that knew they would never be able to do justice to. Just more toys for the boys....

Re: Royal Princes at Olympics

You're asking them to choose between being Royal Princes - whatever that is - and being service men. I'm not sure why you don't think they can do both. Royal Princes is their life, not their choice...........its what they were born to..............the services is their chosen job. What's the problem?

Every other human being has two lives, personal life and work life. I don't really see the difference.

I'm afraid my problem is that being an ex-serviceman, I resent the fact that the princes are just playing at service life, and if the jobs that they have been trained for were necessary then why weren't they given to someone who could give the commitment necessary to fulfill those roles properly, particularly when the jobs they chose to play at cost millions of punds to train someone for...
