Nostalgic moments

What songs bring back that nostalgia for you.
This one by Joe Brown from A tribute To George Harrison.
Not a lot of people know that George was a very keen ukulele player.

Re: Nostalgic moments

The first time I met my future husband I ran into him in a doorway . He then posted a note through my door to say 'come out with me tonight, every night or forever' and I was deluged with flowers .
After our first date I went back to his flat (not to see his etchings) to see slides of the Oman from where he had just returned on business for the Army. The slides were mostly of mortar locating radar , very romantic
Imagine my surprise when he put this on the turntable, one of my favourite pieces of music...

...that was it for me, I was as they say swept off my feet

Re: Nostalgic moments

Might I add my most nostalgic, and romantic, time?.

I was working at a Holiday Camp in Morecambe, Lanc's, in 1967, and, being a 'horse person', I quickly found a local stable...(in Heysham Village)...where I could 'rent' a mount!.

'Clover', (a beautifullly' natured grey Mare), and I would ride out over the marshes at 6am every morning, before work, and again in the evening we'd ride along the beach.

Now, just picture this!...I met a girl who who kept her own horse in the same stable...('Chief' was a feisty Bay Gelding)...and we took to riding together each evening.

One evening, as the Sun was going down, and the light was just beginning to fade, we were walking the horses along the edge of the tide, and a song wafted over from the end of the Pier...'Something Stupid'......and a mile or so further on, after we turned our mount's around to begin the slow trek back, we again heard music from the Pier...but this time, it was the 'Fleetwood Mac' track, 'Albatross'.

We took hold of each other's hand's whilst we were walking our horses along the edge of the tide...and we married that Christmas!.

Sadly, it wasn't to last and, after 4 year's we divorced...but we're still good friends and visit each other regularly.

We both re-married, in the fullness of time, and today see's the advent of my 30th Wedding Anniversary...but I'll never forget that evening we rode our horses along the edge of the tide in Morecambe!.

Re: Nostalgic moments

Nice story Falc. very nostalgic to visit that beach I should think.

Our meeting was less romantic, I was paying the Labour party tote for my mother, at the door of the collector.
A young redhead came to the door, with such beautiful hair and a twinkle in her eye, she stuck in my mind, I just could not forget her.
Cutting a long story short, the next time I saw her was some months later, I had a great mate Ted, and we used to be drinking buddies and played snooker a few times a week at a working man's club.
Anyway one Saturday night he turned up with his wife and daughter, you've guessed it, his daughter was the redhead, later that evening I asked if I could take her home, we went to her place and we danced to Rock around The Clock with Bill Haley, { we still have that record}.
We married in 2 years and we have been together 53 years now.
She still has that bewitching twinkle in her eye, and she has been a bundle of fun, and I love her as much if not more than I did when we first met.
This is the latest photograph I took whilst on the I.O.W a couple of months ago.

Re: Nostalgic moments

One balmy evening, two year's ago last May, (at around 10:30pm), my Sylv and I were sitting by the open garden door's when we were lucky enough to hear our first Nightingale, singing his little heart out on his way further North to find a mate!. He sang for around an hour, and left us hoping we'd hear that beautiful song again and, come September, on his way back to Southern Europe, he again stopped by to treat us to another concert...and has done twice a year ever since!.

His song so reminded us of a piece of music, the 'Tosselli Serenade', that I felt I'd like to share it with you...(don't listen to the music, btw, just close your eye's and listen to the Nightingale, ok?).
