It's Saturday- off down to the Palais.

This was the VE day street party in 1945. I am the one immediately below the lamp post. Did anyone see the match last night ? I guess Germany will take some beating this time .

Morning everyone, a little better this morning but more rain for later apparently, but no complaints after seeing the problems further north.. May I wish the best of luck to all of you hardy souls, and I hope you get away with the worst of the flooding..

No plans as yet for the day but plenty to do in the garden if the weather holds for a few hours.

A great atmospheric photo there Alan, I can almost taste those Spam sandwiches now...

Have an enjoyable day if you can folks....

Good morning all, raining on and off all morning, what's new about that, says you. That banking problem at Nat West spread to the Ulster Bank over here, my Son in Law wasn't able to get any money for the week from his wages which are paid into the bank, he was like a bull with a sore behind last night, no messing like that when you got your wages into your hand in the old days, I was glad to help him out, so much for bankers and high tech.
Smashing photo Alan, a real treasure to have.
Dont let the weather get you down Folks.

Re: It's Saturday- off down to the Palais.

Good morning Alan & Jem and all who follow. Just been reading about the rain and floods up North and looks like we haven't had it as bad as other parts of the county! For the moment its dryand windy. I heard that Windermere's Great North Swim for today has been cancelled but tomorrows events will still take place, so my friend will be very disappointed.

Poor Bonnie got an unexpected dunking yesterday. Went to visit somebody over the border and she enjoyed exploring their garden which had a large pond covered with duckweed and she thought it was grass and stepped right into it and had to swim her way out! She was covered from head to foot in the stuff!!

I had a fright yesterday as went to pay for fuel only to find my card had disappeared!! It was nowhere to be found at home and on checking online to see if it had been used I saw that I'd used it at the post office a few days earlier. So a quick phone call to them confirmed that I had indeed left it there, what a relief, they said I'd left it in the machine!

No plans for today, just the usual chores. Great photos Alan and Jem. Here's one I took of Bonnie in the local woods yesterday on the way home.

Enjoy the rest of your day folks

Loch Etive, Glencoe

Good Morning Folks Very wet and windy this morning. Got soaked in Glasgow yesterday and caught in thunder and lightening! I was meeting my pal who is home on holiday from the States with her hubby. It was good to see them and have a chat about old times when Helena and I went to the dancing!! Aye, those were the days

Lovely photos Alan, JM and MP. I love that one Alan - lovely memories for you! What a beautiful dog, MP.

Hope everyone will enjoy a good day today.

Take care and stay safe

Good morning fellow members a few showers and oh joy a bit of sun

Been to Waitrose to do the shopping and now off to make some asparagus soup for my lunch .

Poor old Bonnie bless her, the dip in the pond must have been a nasty shock.

Chloe is obsessed with chasing the seagulls swimming on the lake which has suddenly appeared in the field. If you squint you can imagine we are at the seaside

Lovely photographs everyone.
Have an enjoyable day

Re: It's Saturday- off down to the Palais.

Hello everyone

Commiserations with all those affected by the floods, it must be a terrible experience...

We have had brighter weather this morning so we made a trip to Weston for a breath of sea air ...... it was blowing a hoolie when we arrived but fortunately the sun came out and it was quite warm. Lots of people there and lots of events taking place on the sands and the Green.

We've been back home an hour and it's lashing down with rain now so I think we were very fortunate with the weather earlier!

Enjoy the rest of your day folks!

Well its been a terrible night, gales a nd lashing rain all night, got up at 5-30 to see the damage but nothing to speak of just poor plants took a bashing. Got out for a few mins to tidy up at lunch time, believe we are having more tonight.
