So angry ....

I hate small minded idiots who will happily take advantage of ones generosity, only to complain when it aint no longer available.... it makes me wonder WHY we do it ???

Re: So angry ....

For whatever the reason Steve, there is always someone who abuses or takes advantage of your good deed(s).
Why do we do it?...because it's in our nature to be kind or generous...don't let them put you off doing what comes naturally

Re: So angry ....

Ok i will tell........My wife's father was taken extremely ill last week and her mother is also disabled and also needs care as she is blind .....my wife also has 2 brothers 1 of which is still at home the other married ....as father in law was in hospital my wife HAD to look after her mother until we knew the outcome ...the 2 brothers where politely asked to help with their mother, but it was my wife who WAS expected to do all the looking after of mother and slept with her for the over a week, but she also needed to work early morns and as her brother started work at 5 am my daughter offered and took a week out of college to granny sit and I run her about at 7 am every day to ensure that mother in law was not left UN-attended for 3 hrs.. we said we could do this for a week and expected help after that .....1 brother said his mother wasn't his responsibility and washed his hands of her ...the other told my wife to quit her job and said it was also my daughters responsibility to help and said college was a waste of time , he then hinted that even I should go and look after her ...(I would have done that as a last resort) but the truth is for the last week my wife , myself and daughter have put our lives on hold to help where the rest of the family have done sweet Fanny Adams and their lives have gone on as normal...what makes it even worse is that the older brother is on the club so he could have helped out at any time ....his wife is the younger brothers boss but she refused to let him have time off.....well last night my wife said she was going to work today and her mother would be left alone ...that is when the s##t hit the fan.....They have had to sort it out between them , my wife has learnt 2 lessons.... what her brothers are really like , and how not to be pushed about....
PS as my wife is the only one in my family working at the moment and she is paying the majority of the bills...she cant afford to lose her job ......so i dont think she/ we were being unreasonable....

Re: So angry ....

No, I'm not surprised at your anger either, Steve. I have been in the same position myself. Hubby and I were the only ones helping my mother after my father died. And for the last two years of her life, whilst she was suffering from dementia, no one wanted to know.
My own two children and their spouses were as helpful as they could be. We all tried to ensure she was comfortable and safe, living in her own home, for as long as possible.
