Caterpillar

We found these lovely caterpillars in our neighbour's garden tonight. We looked it up and it seems to be a Black Swallowtail butterfly. There were half a dozen or so caterpillars that we could see, hopefully they will all survive.

They are beautiful Loretta. We don't seem to see as many caterpillars as we used to - at one time there were always swarms of them. I spent many happy hours collecting them as a child and my favourites were always the dark brown hairy ones.

I think your cabbages are safe plantman, they seem to live on parsley, dill,
fennel, rue and bishops weed, whatever that is. The butterflies are really beautiful. Our neighbour's husband is now under orders to protect those caterpillars with his life.
