Superstitions.

It was Antibrown's thread about lucky charms that prompted me to post this topic.

My mother was very superstitious and would flip her lid if anyone of us crossed on the stairs or attempted to put up a brolly in the house. She always threw salt over her shoulder if any was spilt, she had countless superstitions.
None of it rubbed off on me though

Re: Superstitions.

My Mother was not a bit superstitious, but my Grandmother was a fanatic for superstitions. The umbrella one I remember and one about a Woman whistling in the house, the height of bad luck. She would terrify my brother and me by saying if we answered back to our parents (We never did anyway) our hands would stick up from the grave, that was a real shocker, we could imagine two little hands sticking out and everybody having a swing at them with their boot, ouch!

I'm not at all superstitious now, although we used to believe we were as kids but I grew out of that years ago!

Re: Superstitions.

Another one was. If you keep on looking in the mirror, you will see the devil over your shoulder.

When I look in the mirror now, I see the devil staring right back.
