Dollyposh

In case you're wondering what that means, it means left-handedness. Another word is Corrifisted for some reason.

Do you have any other words for left-handedness. Round here we call it Keggy so I was wondering how many of us are left-handed?

When I first learned how to write at 3 years old I held the pen in my left hand, but my mum put the pen in my right hand so, to a certain degree, I'm ambidextrous.

Re: Dollyposh

It's amazing what labels people who are a bit different get stuck with.

Re: Dollyposh

That sounds a nice word for it, dollyposh, never heard it before but it's better than plain old "Lefty" as they use here.

Re: Dollyposh

Ah, cack-handed. I've heard that before now come to think about it, but I've never heard of Southpaw before.

No, I don't like labelling people and I honestly don't think people should be.

I'm a bit of an odd-ball really. For example, if I deal cards, I deal left-handed and shuffle left-handed, even though I write right-handed.

When I used to be able to paint (walls etc) I'd be just as happy with the brush or roller in either hand.

I've been thinking about how difficult it must be for some folk who are left-handed when it comes to things like using scissors, or a can opener, as most things seem to be manufactured for right-handed people.

How do folk get on with these things?

Re: Dollyposh

I've found that as I've got older I use my right hand more for things but could never write with my right hand. I can't say that using things like scissors or can openers have ever been a problem for me as I've always adapted.

Its funny cause even though I'm left handed if I see somebody else writing with their left hand I always think how awkward they look

There used to be a shop in London which only sold left handed items! I went in there many many years ago. Wonder if its still there?
