Put your brain in gear for this

Ok here we go, I want to know what ONE incident in the world of Music stands out to you above all others.

I know we all have our own thoughts on this so please do knock others if you disagree with them.

Mine, nothing can top this 2002 show stopper for me.

Not a concert performance, but a work colleague and a friend introduced me to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXKZaPSbQC0 For some weeks, I refused to believe it was the voice of just one man and insisted he was duetting with a woman, until I saw him on television one evening in a programme of 'International Caberet' hosted by Kenneth Williams and saw for myself.

The death of Freddie Mercury. What a great talent and what would he have done if he had lived. The same goes for Buddy Holly in fact.

The incident (or happening) that I think was quite special was when Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carrerra, along with Zubin Mehta, conducting, collaborated in the early 1990's, I think, to raise funds for the Carrerra Foundation. It was a fine collaboration and one that became very popular Worldwide.

I agree with Val, the death of Freddie Mercury was a great loss to the music world, he had such an amazing voice...

Re: Put your brain in gear for this

For me the seminal moment in my music history was when The Sex Pistols: Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Steve Jones and Paul Cook under the canny management of Malcolm McClaren took on the might of the established music industry and changed the face of music forever.
They killed disco and it's formulaic sounds clearing the way for such innovative and intelligent acts as The Clash, XTC, The Jam and the whole second British invasion.
Now is the time for another Sex Pistols so that we can bury the current trend of autotune pop hits forever.
