does any one no what coins they take ?

most are credit card now. but I think the coin ones take any silver or pound coins.

This link will give you some idea of coinage used, Pixie .... depending on the length of your call I would say it would be safe to have a collection of 10p, 20p, 50p and £1 coins.

Most of the phone kiosks will also take phone cards.

You'll be lucky to find a phone box Pixie, at least one that is working, the pay phone in my local pub takes 20p 50p and £1 coins.

Why not buy a pre-paid SIM card for your stay Pixie, and use it in your own mobile, and if you haven't got a mobile then you could just get a cheap pay and go one that you can throw away when you leave....

ahh you can get phone cards in the uk
we have no cell phone and even if we did it wouldnt work in the uk \it would jst to call a cab at the trian station but thank you for letting me no
i no lots of phones do not work or have been smashed was like that last time i came to the uk

That's the best idea Barry, a Tesco job or something like that. Pixie, the new cheapy phone will have a sim card in it.

my brother told me the same thing you get a phone for 10 pounds and get some time on it
seems rather a long and expensiff way just to make a phone call once

I think the thought behind it was that it would be more convenient for you to use rather than spending time finding a telephone kiosk, Pixie.
