The World's Gone Mad
The Sunday Times (News Review 29/04/2012) informs me over my porridge that Egypt has passed a new law. Now, you may think that Egypt has enough troubles heaped on it's plate at the moment to worry about passing law but it would appear not to be the case. So? What's the crisis that's far greater than their current crisis to merit breaking off from civil insurrection and wanton destruction? Well, the Islamist-dominated government have passed a bill that will allow a husband to have sex with the corpse of his dead wife for up to six hours after her death.
Why six hours I don't know. It could be a combination of medical advice and the demands of a very hot climate - who knows?
Just for good measure (as if this is not enough) they have also lowered the minimum age of marriage for girls to fourteen. This I assume in an attempt to attach some aspect of respectability to an obviously disreputable and downright disgraceful state of affairs.
Whatever happened to the Human Rights Act in Egypt? Dead or alive?
