I really like the way this photo turned out. The dark background adds to the light colored soft pastel feathers of this bird. I had to look up it's variety at the Portland Zoo where it was photographed. I wouldn't know a cattle egret from a barn owl.
You've caught him just right, he even looks as if he is sparing you a smile too!
I found it so curious since the area where I live has dozens of huge dairy farms that provide milk for the Tillamook cheese factory. I'll need to pay more attention and look for the birds.
It's a great picture bob, I wondered how the 'Cattle' bit got into the name and it seems (In their native habitat) they follow the cattle and feed on the insects the cattle disturb, you learn something new everyday.
