King James Stilton

Is there a better cheese anywhere in the world? Rich, pungent and veiny; 'tis truly the king of cheeses.

Oh yes absolutely. Lancashire Crumbly Cheese is the best in the world for me, but no veins! Sadly, you won't be able to buy any where you are, so you'll never know what you're missing!

True. There's thousands of wonderful English cheeses that just aren't made in large enough quantities to be exported. I just have to take what I can find here in the colonies.

Re: King James Stilton

For 'hard' cheese, yes there's nothing much better than a decent Stilton, however I've recently found that Sainsburys sell a very nice Danish Blue which is also very good on Carrs melts.

For a change I sometimes vary and get some French Brie - all of them go very well with a decent Port.

As an alternative to Cheese melts I sometimes use plain Digestive biscuits - half a dozen of these liberally spread with Stilton and washed down with the port makes quite a decent and filling 'tea'.

I like a good stilton myself, but I've not heard of that one, I must watch out for it...

This may be worth checking out before buying anymore King James Stilton .....

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding a warning against King James brand Blue Stilton Cheese, which may be contaminated with Listeria bacteria.

That food scare was almost a year ago. If it's still on sale now I would think it's safe.

Re: King James Stilton

I was under the impression that it was the bacteria which was introduced to the cheese was what it gave it the blue veins and the very distinctive flavour.
