Lack of a towing eye!

By a strange quirk of events, I discovered that my car didn't have a towing eye, a friend broke down just up the road, he asked could I give him a tow, had I a tow rope? Well, I thought I had, it wasn't until I got to his car that I discovered I hadn't got a towing eye fitted on the car, it should've been, but it was missing. The situation has now been corrected, but I've been thinking, "What if I'd broken down?" Stranded, with no hope of getting home, and I didn't realise this little bit of metal was missing. My friend? Well he managed to get sorted out.

Most cars have a towing eye behind a pop out section near the bumper, or where the bumper should be.

My towing eye is kept in with the tool kit, so that it is just screwed in when needed....

Cars are a mystery to me I wouldn't fancy being towed and hope if I have a problem the nice RAC man will put me on a low loader or one of those bracket things which lift the front wheels up

Re: Lack of a towing eye!

The new key arrived yesterday, I'd got it from eBay, well, it seems like it fits into the back of the car ok, but oh dear, I found out later that there was indeed a key supplied with the car, seems like at one time, the car was being towed, and the key snapped leaving part of it embedded in the car chassis, so, unless I can get the remnants of the key removed, I won't be able to be towed should the need arise.

Oh no what a pain. Is there no way you can get the remnants of the key out?
