Another flat tyre

Arrgghh, another flat tyre today, so that's 4 within a year, am not amused This time the culprit was a small sharp stone embedded in the tyre. So more expense as hole was too big to be repaired, so had to get a new one.

I felt a lot better though after chatting to a lady who was buying two tyres at £180 each compared to £43 for my one

That's it rant over Thanks goodness for the breakdown people

Gosh that's a run of bad luck you've been having. I went through the same thing a few years ago, it got to the point that I was scared to go out to the car incase I'd got another flat tyre.

Re: Another flat tyre

Marion a flat tyre is one of my nightmares. I tried to change one myself last time but the screws were so tight I couldn't get them undone and had to call the RAC.

I hope that is the last for you for some time

Re: Another flat tyre

I'm ashamed to say I've only changed a tyre once in my life, and that took ages. I could never put my trust in that filmsy jack most car manufacturers give you. As for the nuts, thats something else! My last flat was a few months ago, and the RAC guy had it off and changed before more than five minutes.Plus the fact its a messy job too, leave it to the experts.

Re: Another flat tyre

We had to replace three last year, the damage was to bad to repair, and at £60 each its no joke, my OH always changes ours, over the years he has become quite the expert

We always have a tin of Holts tyre weld and a foot pump just in case, as we have been on the motorway twice when we had flats in the past and miles away from a garage.

Re: Another flat tyre

If it's any consolation, we had a flat a few days after our MOT. Our chap had said we could go another year on our tyres We decided to replace the two of them, cost us £100, and was done in a jiffy.

Re: Another flat tyre

I am getting paranoid about it now and keep watching the road for anything sharp I've got a tailgate guard in the back to keep dogs in and have to keep undoing it for access to the nut thingy for the spare wheel and I also have a bootliner which also gets messed up when they access the tool to undo the nut!!

So here's to at least 6 months with no more flat tyres

Wow Marian that's a run of bad luck! I can't remember the last time that I got one, must be ten years ago at least!

Just a thought though, should you invest in a tin of jollop from Halfords or somewhere, that mends the leak and re-inflates the tyre all in one? I think they dish out those kits with some new cars these days instead of a spare wheel...

Re: Another flat tyre

I've wondered about that Barry but somebody told me that if you use that stuff then you have to buy a new tyre as its then unable to be repaired. Don't know if that's true. Out of all my punctures I've only been able to have one repaired.

That's what I would dread, having a flat or blow out on motorway
