Inspiring

Maybe this belongs in the football thread but then again why?
It is nice for a change to say a word or two of thanks to the youth of today. Specifically, a youngster who is inspiring to say the least.

Jonjo Heuerman is a 10 year old lad who just happens to be a Hammers fan.
This last weekend saw him complete his second marathon walk for The Bobby Moore Fund For Cancer Research. This latest feat has seen his fund raising schemes pass the £55,000 mark.

Jonjo, who also lost his grandmother to the same disease that cost Mooro his life, fittingly ended his second annual three-day walk in front of the World Cup winners' statue on Green Street. His motivation? none other than his Grandma, Bobby and a desire to do something for others less fortunate.

The walk itself raised in excess of £15,000 to add to the £40,000, Jonjo and we must not forget, his elder sister Megan, had already raised for the fund.

There are numerous tributes to the lad's previous efforts on UTube, I have not put any links here as most of them feature people or places directly involved with West Ham Utd and it might be seen as flag flying by some. However, they are there if anyone cares to look.

Jonjo, from all of us that have been afflicted or affected by this beast of a disease we thank you, Megan and not least your astonishing family, you are the very people of whom we should be proud.

Re: Inspiring

Good news stories are always welcome! Very uplifting to hear that a 10 yr old has done so much, and his sister as well. Thanks for sharing... cancer has affected my family too.

Re: Inspiring

I don't think there are many families that haven't been touched by cancer, so well done Jonjo and Megan, you are a credit to your family...
