Cladding removal B3-5 extra !!

Commenably, government has pledged a further three and a half
billion £s , bringing to a total of five billion £s for the rectification of
hundreds of tower blocks throughout the UK!!
I hope this is only a temporary loan to enable the work to start and
will eventually be payed by the culprits of this sorry saga ??
The government has no direct responsibility for what happened imo !
However, this only deals with the buildings which were lucky
enough to not burn down !!
What about the survivors
of Grenfell ? Have we forgotten about them
All ready?
Mr Jenric mentioned putting a tax on developers in order to recoup
funds! Imo this will not work, because they will only off load this
tax onto the leaseholders and create extra inflationary pressure on
rentals etc !

"The government will provide a further £3.5bn to "end the cladding scandal in a way that is fair and generous to leaseholders" in the wake of Grenfell Tower fire, the housing secretary has announced.

Robert Jenrick told MPs on Wednesday that ministers aimed to "finish the job we've started" on removing and replacing unsafe cladding from residential buildings following the 2017 tragedy."

The link above is the only one I could find after seeing this item on the lunchtime news.
There will no doubt be items on other news channels and in newspapers in due course.

Absolutely disgusting. There is NO WAY that the UK tax payer pay a penny for this. None of it.

Putting a tax on future developments will also have to be paid for by the tax on taxpayers because it will simply be passed on to buyers.

No wonder UK taxes are so disgustingly high and no wonder people avoid and/evade them by whatever means they can.

Re: Cladding removal B3-5 extra !!

I watched the announcement on TV. It came straight after PMQs. I'm disgusted that the Government has had to step in to help financially as it should have been the builders, architects and developers that are held to account for specifying/using shoddy rubbish. If anything the Government should be passing a law that specifies absolute minimums for all aspects of buildings be they social or private housing stock. I'm also surprised that no mention was made of following the Welsh Assembly's lead of making all new houses, apartments have sprinkler systems built in as a matter of course.

I quite agree the government shouldn't HAVE to step in Percy, but l
hope it is only a loan untill the upcoming criminal trial that surely
must take place now ?? Then blame and punishment can be
decided?
One law that the government could, and should alter is the law
concerning bankruptcy ? Which due to the scale and criminal nature
of this matter should be suspended in order that maximum
recompense can generated from the culprits on top of their jail
sentences ??

There is still no proof of where the blame lies. Until that has been established no money should be paid anywhere or by anyone.

But what has NOT been determined let alone proved is what was the root cause of the initial decision to change the architects original spec?
