Keepsakes

Hi

Do you have them?

I am starting a collection.

I have the instrument of torture from my cardiac proceedure at Christmas and I have just got round to clearing up the coffee table and rug after my emergency admission a week ago.

I have EGC Tags, a roll of micropore tape, two tourneques and two canulas, a pink and a green on.

you need to avoid th green ones, they are huge and they hurt. ,

Re: Keepsakes

Ticket stubs from Led Zeppelin's Sydney concert in 1972. Not sure where they are but I know that I still have them somewhere. My son's first pair of shoes. Too many others to mention.

Re: Keepsakes

Oh I have lots of things in my collections, but ones that come to mind are mainly the kids school stuff from way back, a notebook filled with floor and window measurements from every house we lived in, another notebook filled with angst when I was going through treatment for C, the dogs collars and leads from puppyhood upwards...oh I could go on!

Re: Keepsakes

A pacemaker. I carry it with me everywhere I go, next to my heart.

Our eldest son's hospital wrist tag from when he was born.

The (now empty) Minstrels packets the judge gave our two boys after he had signed the adoption order for the youngest one.

The friendship ring my Lovely Cousin gave me when she was a teenager that I now wear as a wedding ring.

I was offered the kidney stone I passed in hospital, but I declined.

Re: Keepsakes

I have a memory box for each of my children, it has their birth tags and first outfit , their school reports and little things they made at primary school. One son has his cast from when he broke his arm. Their birthday cards from 1-5..

A while back I started a memory box for myself, knowing OHs declining health might mean he wont be around or at least not as I know him now I keep all the little cards and notes hes given me this past 5 years.

The certificate from when my son did the renewal of our wedding vows (OH asked DS to do this on my daughters wedding day which DS also offciated at) and little odds and ends tickets from days out etc..

I also make our photo albums more a kind of story book affair these days.

Re: Keepsakes

The only surgical keepsakes are the metal plates and screws that were put inside Mrs. mart's leg after the road accident in 1991. They were supposed to stay there forever but they loosened off after some months and had to be removed.

There are so many keepsakes from all stages of life but it's the oldest ones that immediately spring to mind. These are:

A letter from my Mother, a prayer book and a Holy Mary plastic statue that glows in the dark (oo-err! ). These are about 67 years old and were sent to me shortly after I'd been put into a boarding school for asthmatics. It was run by Nuns. Very religious of course, so all the boys there had to be. I was 9 years old.

A photo of my sister and me. We had it professionally done as a Christmas present for our parents. It cost 18 Shillings and 6 Pence. A fortune for us at the time. We'd saved up our pocket money for ages. My sister was about 13 and me about 11.

An anniversary present that I gave to my Mother and Father. This is about 64 years old.

A pair of pliers that my Dad used. They were always there.

The marriage garter from Mrs mart's leg.

Re: Keepsakes

When I wander around charity shops I often tell myself all the little bits and bobs were once someone's precious keepsakes
