I'm a bit like that Tachyon, especially with painful memories. Better to hold on to the happy ones instead.
I am sure we have all had periods of pain and despair in our lives, but why choose to keep re-living it?
Things you can't change are best left in the past if you can, - never forgotten, but just put away in a safe place.
Having said that, I don't think we ever forget our first love, but we were just too young.
