Safety Camera Partnership

Incredibly embarrassing.

https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/news/spee...mpression=true

The only comment says it all really.

These sites are (were?) supposed to have been assessed by a suitably experienced police officer before being approved and further authorised by the DfT before the cameras are installed. Be interesting to find out what went wrong here. FYI, I worked on a two-year investigation into the Hampshire Safety Camera Partnership back in 1999/2000.

That showed up some pretty serious issues with the whole concept including three deliberate falsifications of KSI data to get sites approved and manipulation of the post-camera stats to make it look like they were reducing collisions when they actually weren't.

It seems 20 years on nothing has changed.
The local Independent councillor could have saved SCP time and money if asked what the problem was.

The current speed limit for the A10 at Setchey is 40mph. But borough councillor Simon Nash, who lives in the village, believes the majority of accidents have been caused by failure to observe rather than speeding.

I fail to see the problem here.

Re: Safety Camera Partnership

A busy staggered junction, speed camera not needed just people not reading the road causing problems.

Some are just too slow, indicate too late or not at all, turning left or right into narrow side roads and impeded by bus stops on both sides.

Garage lane has numerous small businesses the road is not adequate for vehicles now needing access.

Traffic lights would help, as traffic coming onto A10 have problems getting out. If you're lucky some drivers will give way.

Safety cameras do reduce traffic speed by their very presence.

Re: Safety Camera Partnership

It won't make any difference long term as 4,000 new homes are planned around already congested roads, in need of repair most of the time.

The 'A' roads need major improvement to cope with traffic bypass built around town is gridlocked regularly.

Where does the money come from especially with covid running riot? I would like to see the "benefits" cut back but things will have to get a lot worse before that happens. Never mind, things WILL be getting a whole lot worse and it will HAVE to happen.

House builders presumably offer some money for road improvements the rest can only come from government.

But the UK government HAS no money, only what is collected in taxes and from loans that sooner or later the tax payers have to refund.
