A Close Shave

Although this thread is mostly aimed at those who have to shave their stubbly faces regularly, ie men and Artangel, it might be useful for others along the gender fluid spectrum.

I tend to (wet) shave after a shower. Usually squirt some shaving gel onto my hands and rub it onto my face. This then obviously foams up and I then have a simple way of seeing any areas that my razor will have missed.

However, every once in a while, instead of my hands, I apply the gel via a shaving brush (thus giving me a reason not to chuck that impulse buy away!).

Now, here's the thing...When I've lathered my face with a brush, the shave is always better, giving me a baby's bottom feel to it.

Why does this happen??

Re: A Close Shave

Because the brush massages the bristles and make them softer.

Not really, the brush hairs will wrap around the bristles and coat them with shaving foam/cream more easily.

Re: A Close Shave

I don’t think you can beat a good close wet shave at the barbers and the soap removed with a cut throat razor.

For the stubble on my face, l am using a good old shaving brush for an unbeatable lather. Made by Abbeyhorn it’s a snip at £90.

It’s a truly Christmas must have present!

Have you ever thought about wax,my aunt put hot wax on my moustache, waited for it to dry, then ripped the dry wax off, I have never forgotten that as it was very painful, I tell you what though, that moustache has never grown back since,

Re: A Close Shave

Why bother to shave?

Beards are the in-thing these days.

For men, of course.
