Gypsy Horse Fair
The Irish 'Travellers' are lurking about again.Yesterday I was just saying tatar to my friend out the front, when a suspicious looking white van was crawling along very slowly, his window rolled down, and an unpleasant looking man studying all our houses as he inched along the kerb.
Just looking at him have me the willies.
Next thing, a young lad came up my drive waving leaflets about - no business address on them of course.
He was broad Irish and wanted to talk me into having work done on my driveway. I knew straightaway he was connected to the dodgy van driver, who by now had parked up further along the road.
I sent him packing.
Thing is, I heard last night (and again this morning), to beware as the Gypsies are gathering on some public land about a mile away.
Apparently, because of Covid, Appleby Horse Fair was cancelled this year for only the second time in 250 years.
So they are now holding it not far from here instead on August Bank Holiday, so the Gipsies are started to gather in this area.
Something else I didn't know until just now, they even have their own website. Did anyone else know this?

Well! I never knew that. Have been reading through some of it & never realised so many organisations bent over backwards to help gypsies & give them information. Amazing that any in that nomadic life have the internet. Guess they use someones nearby in any area they stop, that hasn't got a privacy on it.As to the illegal gathering I hope the police can stop that, they already do for raves.

I believe you are quite right when you say no one will stop it too.
Could be an interesting Bank Holiday - I might pop down and see you instead of staying here on my own.

I would never in a million years hurt the horses - or any animal - for the fault of the owners.
Those poor horses have to do as they are told, it's not their fault so why on earth punish them?

They spent a few days in the field outside my house a few days ago, Apparently they were heading north to Manchester, The cut down trees, had open fire, the fire brigade had to be called, then when they left there was rubbish and poo everywhere throughout the woods. May not have been the same people but they were mainly white vans, large cars and huge caravans.21-08-2020, 03:51 PM
