Popular songs we all know.

See if you know the names of the songs and the singers of these lines taken from popular songs of the past, and no Googling allowed, after all what's the point of cheating yourself?.

(1) "People all around but I don't hear a sound".
(2) "There's a land that's fair and bright, where handouts grow on bushes".
(3) "There's so many times I've let you down".
(4) "The Lady then she covered me with roses".
(5) "To live a lie would bring us pain".

Re: Popular songs we all know.

Dean Martin sang Release me in 1964 and Frank did Leaving on a jet plane in 1971.

If you dont remember those then you are young.
Burle Ives and Brenda Lee are almost before my time, and the Rolling Stones are my kids era.

Burl Ives was my time: I saw him once at a seafood restaurant in Cape Cod when we were on vacation: his yacht was docked out front and he and entourage rowed in. He was actually fatter in person than his pictures!

I thought Jet Plane was Peter, Paul and Mary ... also my time

Peter, Paul and Mary was my time too and was before 1971 when Frank was supposed to have recorded it. I was in the WRAF and they played that on the jukebox whenever one of us got posted overseas. The Rolling Stones was also my time.

You could pick a song for 3d (threepence) in the 1960s.
