Washing lines

I think this is mostly one for the ladies on here, but you never know, How many do the washing, hang it on a line and then leave it out for a couple of days, whatever the weather, as I type this I am looking at a line full of washing across the road from me which has been hanging there for 3 days to my knowledge, I was always of the impression that every drop of rain or dew contained a spot of dirt and in the last couple of days here, we have even had fog,so come on own up who,s guilty and why do you do it ( I use mi tumble dryer )

Re: Washing lines

I personally would not put my washing on the line and then leave it there for a few days.
I was always told that if you left it overnight it would get mucky and would need washing again (is this an old wives tale? but one i have remembered)
It is certainly not the time of the year to be hanging washing out now as i found at the weekend it is not drying so a waste of time and effort.

Re: Washing lines

Aitch the only washing I leave out overnight is dog towels and then only in the summer.

All other washing is taken in at the first spot of rain and certainly not left out overnight.

Re: Washing lines

I haven't hung out any washing for many years now and always use my tumble dryer.

Just a thought though, is the lady/gentleman across the road alright?

Re: Washing lines

I always bring it in the same day and at this time of the year usually use the dryer unless its a really sunny day.

Re: Washing lines

My washing goes on the line in the morning, taken in by 5.00pm (or earlier if it starts to rain), if still damp, I put it on the clothes airer.

I've known my next door neighbour leave hers out for almost a week

Re: Washing lines

I dislike dryers, never had one; no choice now that I'm in the retirement complex. Bah! I always hung mine out side and took it in either when dry or at dusk if it needed some more time hanging in the basement. Wouldn't dream of leaving it out overnight!
