Reorganisation in Supermarkets..

My local Waitrose has been closed for a week for reorganisation ,I have been this morning for the first time since it reopened and I couldn't find a darned thing

There are lots of 'new lines' eg bedding and household non necessities like little baskets with frills on but no ground coffee or locally grown broccoli.

It has taken me twice the time it usually takes to shop and I seem to have only half the stuff on my shopping list.

Why can't they leave well alone?

Oh I know Meg - you get used to the layout, knowing what you want in each aisle, then they go and rearrange it all......really annoying!

Oh! I hate that too, Meg ..... there's nothing worse than having to get used to a different layout in your supermarket

Though, in Sainsbury's defence, I have to say that when they have a 'shift around' the staff are just inside the door handing out new layout maps to customers, which does help a lot.

It is all to do with marketing, they make you hunt around for things and when you see some things that you dont normally look at you tend to buy them if you are not focused on your shopping.

I do occaisionally complain to a supervisor but as usual they take no notice.

That's exactly why they do it and yes, it can be very frustrating, especially when you don't have all the time in the world!

Re: Reorganisation in Supermarkets..

My local Tesco is currently being reorganised and is a bit topsy turvey at the moment with things being moved around left right and centre, and if you see a member of staff wandering around the store holding a big lollipop then you can ask them where things have moved to. But yes its very frustrating.

The reorganised store opens in 2 weeks and apparently they have listened to their customers hence the reorganisation with lots of new departments!! Strange but I don't ever recall seeing any questionnaire asking what we want...perhaps Tescos are telling us what we want

AB this isn't just the store moving stock around to encourage more impulse purchase, whole sections have been moved and the distance between the isles reduced to accommodate more shelving in order to stack a wider range of goods like bedding and household stuff . I think doing this is unnecessary in a small store in a small town where people are going to buy food.

Our Morrisons have just put two rows of self service checkouts in, I hate them things, you have to keep waiting for assistance, especially if you buy ale, or glue,
I also have a habit of talking back to them.

Jimmy I forgot those they have appeared too .

I have seen them in operation in Morrisons and think they may be ok if you only want a couple of items but not for the weekly shop.
I guess their purpose is to save on staff but it doesn't appear to work because people have to call for assistance.
