Alpin glow

ALPIN GLOW AT SUNSET.

The last photo is of Mt. Hood, a sleeping volcano. The Indians had a legend of the 2 "boy volcanos" (Mt Hood and Mt Rainier) and their fight over a "girl volcano" (Mt St. Hellens). She is a smooth, rounded feminine volcano. The boy volcanos are rugged and masculine.
The 2 boy volcanos had a terrible fight over the girl and they threw hot stones at each other. This legend strongly indicates that the Indians had seen their eruptions at sometime in the ancient past.

Thank you. There is only one place that I love as much as the mountains... the "old growth Redwood forests" in Northern California.

Great mate!..Seeing those views of Mt Rainier and the Cascades from Seattle is one of the great vistas in the Pacific North West. Breathtaking.

Easy to make that mistake, but it's actually Mt Hood, seen from Portland , Oregon.

Photos of Mt. St Hellens: before , during, and after the eruption in 1980, which I watched from my balcony.

Re: Alpin glow

Yes I actually mean the views I had when we were in Seattle. Reminds me of that trip. Been to San Francisco quite a few times and lived there for a while but only got up to Washington once.

Re: Alpin glow

Great photos Bakerman! It's strange how that Indian story follows the same path as Mt Taranaki in Maori legend.
