Has There Been Any Change To The Street Lighting In Your Area?

I know in the past, they have reduced lighting in the streets at night to save money and for the environment.
Since the pandemic, I have noticed there is less light in the street at night than before.

Have you noticed this in your area?

They turn the lights off at 1am outside my house now . But some places there are no lights . Weve had youths breaking into cars caught on home cameras nearby.

Can't say I have noticed anything. It's been useless all the time since they changed the lamposts anyway.

Susan, A student walking back to university on a main road was knocked down and killed in the early hours. It happened soon after the reduced lighting at night was introduced in my area.
The taxi driver with two passengers couldn’t see him in the pitch black darkness.

My daughter was saying the other day about street lights and shops having lights on. I wonder if it's to stop burglers lurking in the shadows.
I wouldn't notice as I don't go out after dark (except on Halloween)

Mups, It seems they adjust the street lights remotely. I didn’t know that!
I can imagine a person sitting in an office somewhere with a giant remote control and a screen!

(It must be a man as they like to be in charge of the remote control!)

That’s a good point, Tessa. It would be an ideal time for shop burglars. I’d imagine they’d have to go on foot as their vehicle might be the only one to come up on CTV! ....Unless they have false number plates?

realspeed, Don’t you have trouble putting your bin out in the dark?

I bet you have gaslights really and a man comes round with a long pole with a ‘snuffer’ on the end!
