Re: old members

I think you will find this with most forums Jean. People join and then lose interest. I don't know of any forum which actiually deletes accounts but I suppose it is an option if there is a space issue.

Yes have noticed people come and go, just sometimes you get to know a member then they dissapear and you never know what happened, sadly on a site I was friends with a person, I myself was off the site for a week, came back posted on their page, got a message to say sorry you don't seem to know they died, I was shocked. there account page was still open

Re: old members

It rather intrigues me that people join and never make one post but often appear in the recently online list.

Re: old members

No Jean, members who haven't posted for a while still have their accounts kept open.

Unfortunately, accounts may also remain open if a member has passed away unless Admin are notified of the sad event.

Hi Jean people join sites and come and go, that is their choice.

Hammer I think some people just like to read posts but haven't got a lot to say themselves or lack the confidence to post.

I have noticed on sites you tend to have a core of regular posters which grows slowly but steadily over time, occasional posters and transient members .

Re: old members

It's sad that when some members pass away on forums everyone is left in the dark, but thats the way it is when nobody really knows anyone. I also think people get bored after a while posting and lay off for a while and when they return they find they are out of touch and dont bother to catch up. That only what I think anyway Jean.

Re: old members

Perhaps it would be wise to give a close/trusted friend or relative the passwords of the forums you're registered with, in order that they may relay any sad news.

Re: old members

I find its harder to have your name deleted from a forum, than it is to join one
