Roy Hudd has died

Roy Hudd has died at the age of 83. Another one of those well-known people who were involved in the acting and comic aspects of entertainment for many years.

That is sad to read. I met him once, we were in Hayle at the Paradise Bird Park & he was there with his wife. Such a nice man & we had a lovely chat. They were on their way to the Scilly Islands for a holiday & staying in Hayle overnight.

....Has died aged 83. In 1966 while on honeymoon went to his show-he asked if there was anyone on honeymoon in the audience-I put my hand up and he came down and gave us a bottle of Lucozade!

Yes, I heard this on the news today too, Rhosyn.
I can't say I was ever much of a fan to be honest, but it is still sad when anyone has to leave this world.

I quite liked Roy Hudd, I believe he had a part in Coronation Street at one time.

A good comedy actor.

Personally, I never found him funny.

But he seemed highly knowledgeable about his industry and was able to rattle off pleasant anecdotes. Plus, he seemed to be a down to earth and affable sort of fella.

I thought he was moderately funny but last time I saw him on TV he looked like he was a candidate for having his own postcode.

Same here. His Huddlines show taking the Mick out of the weekly news predated such shows as The News Quiz and Have I Got News for You. He was a great fan and exponent of the old vaudeville and variety shows, often mimicking the likes of Max Miller and others. A very funny man in his time and not a bad actor to boot.

A great shame. He wrote some great stuff and had a great fund of stories to relate.
