Insurance companies proving they s**m of the earth.

Just saw this on BBC website about Insurance companies rapidly changing their policies due to the coronovirus.

link to article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51826295

One insurance company, Sportscover Direct has changed its wording on it's website to this:

'"does not cover any loss, damage, liability, cost or expense of whatever nature directly or indirectly caused by, arising out of, contributed to by, or resulting from Covid-19."

Basically meaning, if your a new policy holder and you unfortunately happen to catch the virus, as far as your insurance goes, your screwed.

I wonder how many of the countries insurance companies are going to follow suit with much the same wording.

It's no wonder many people hate Insurance companies. This will just make the feelings worse.

Glad we took out travel insurance when we booked our holiday for this year.

From Guardian Australia but I presume it will be similar for other countries:

If you have a trip planned, or are thinking of planning a holiday, either within Australia or overseas, here’s what you need to know about how to best guard yourself against any issues arising from the spread of Covid-19.
I booked a trip last year, am I still going to be covered for travel insurance?

It will depend on a number of factors, most notably when you booked the travel.

Lisa Kable, communications manager for the Insurance Council of Australia, told Guardian Australia in February that after Dfat made its announcement on 23 January about the risk of travel in relation to coronavirus it became a “known event” for insurers.

“If people are travelling and bought their travel insurance before it became a known event … the majority of travel insurance policies should cover people if they contract coronavirus overseas, or if their trips have to be moved around countries or places.”

You can now buy add on insurance to cover Covid19

Then you have nothing to worry about RS, except contracting the Virus of course.

Haven't cruise ships always had a reputation for sickness of a different nature, don't think that caused ripples through the insurance companies.

I've hated Insurance Companies for years. They are the biggest Bandits on the Planet, their agents should be wearing black masks and riding horses.

Insurance providers are not charities, they provide a service at the most competitive rates by managing risk. They have shareholders, mostly institutional shareholders, and delivering shareholder value is essential and in most cases a legal requirement.
