A life not well lived

New year always brings a sense of sadness to me .
Another year past with nothing much achieved .
Thoughts of what has gone before opportunities never to be recaptured
Life growing shorter .
Yes I know it’s a miserable thought but I always envy people who can look back on a life well lived people who made a difference .

Maybe it’s just the new year or just old age
Anyway I’m glad it’s gone .

Just be satisfied with a modicum of equilibrium.

To a degree, it's all about expectation.

Re: A life not well lived

Muddy , I dont enjoy these last weeks either as i look back i always say I'm glad it's over. I dont have expectations of life anymore whereas i think i did when younger . Strangely enough i dont mind my life growing shorter because as I've got older life is kinder and more gentle . I'm thankful for that .

Maybe you made a difference to life or people without realising after all even a smile or an acknowledgment can mean a lot .

When I read your posts and look at your artwork I've always thought of you as very talented.

Re: A life not well lived

Muddy you still have your family, your husband & your lovely collie.
You have recently shown us your great artistic talents & I am sure there are other good things in your life....so be more positive!

When we were younger the world moved much faster & we wanted to try everything. When you are older I feel it is a time to reflect on what you have achieved through your life & enjoy them.

Try making a list in 2020 of all the things you have achieved. Not big things, just the things that make those around you happy ( like a great roast dinner or a picture that others admired).

For me, new year is a time to be happy for what you have achieved. In 2011 I fought cancer & was determined to win. That is an achievement that I have been able to celebrate for the last 9 years!
