Twenty years of a salary like that and a person could retire in relative comfort. It is a simple redistribution of the wealth of the nation from those who do not understand gambling odds to those who do.

My BIL was a croupier in a casino. Of course, the odds are against you. These establishments wouldn't exist otherwise. Better than many forms of gambling but still against you.

I think the draw for the punter is that you could get lucky and win big. That especially true of the national lottery.

In many cases Todgy, they do have to go in there, they are addicted,
just as drug addicts have to get their fix!
So in effect both , drug dealers and casino/betting shop owners are
taking advantage of sick people?
Imo drug dealers are the bigger villains as they directly cause their
victims to become addicted and so destroy themselves!
But gambling barons also should bear responsibility for any
misfortune they cause just by the fact that they exist!
Just like the cladding on grenfell, if it wasnt there, it wouldnt have
happened!
