I'd just as soon it came and went without so much as a whimper, Aitch. It's no fun for me any longer.

Re: Christmas is a coming

I know what you mean Mollie, although I am in a better position than you with having grandchildren, I no longer buy them presents, just put money in an enveope and then see what they have arranged for me to do with them over christmas, at least my family is close to me, whereas my brothers family is down south, and he only sees them on boxing day, he has been asked to spend it with us, but I think he is too embarrased to do so, so he spends a lot of the period on his own

Re: Christmas is a coming

When Gordon was still around we used to have Christmas dinner with our David and his family, and I have done since he died, but it's not the same.

Our Jeff was always invited to David's as well, but he just wouldn't let us pick him up and take him, preferring to spend it alone, which we hated. He died four years ago, and I'm sorry to turn this into mournful study, but when folk live alone, it can be very hard for them to actually feel wanted.

I know of your brother's situation Aitch, and you have got to literally go and drag him out, even if he objects. Even with family, sometimes you feel like you're being a nuisance and feel that they're inviting you out of duty, so please try to get him to spend time with you this Christmas.

My daughter has bought a Stollen and an individual Christmas pudding for me.......so far.
Weather permitting, I will be up in Scotland again for Christmas and the new year.

Just replied to your email, Aitch.

Translation - Aitch says, get a webcam folks so that we may start yapping face to face, he's going to his bed, and he only speaks Wigan dialect. Luckily, I speak several languages!
