Old People’s Words, Phrases And Sayings?

When l told my daughter ‘l had a fall’. She said, ‘You fell’. ‘Oh ok, l fell, now just please, get me to the hospital quick’!

Yesterday, l met five of my lovely school friends that l have known since l was 5. We meet annually.

They asked how l was.... ‘l didn’t think, l would be able to drive today as four weeks ago, l had a fall and cut my knee badly’.

‘A fall?’ my best friend in the infants said, ‘That is what old people say’!

‘Oh, no!’ I replied, ‘My daughter said, almost the same thing’!

I thought about it and said, ‘At least, l don’t say, Arthuritis as some older people say and l don’t say, ‘In them days’, instead of, ‘In those days’!

It seems, when we reach a certain age, some people take on a different lingo.
So l ask, can you think of any words or phrases associated with ‘older people’.

• When I was a boy …

• We never used to do that in my day

• I remember when …

• I can't keep up with all this technology

There are I am sure probably many, many more but those are all I can recall at the moment.

So I did. How did you know that, have you been reading my mail again!

I have to admit to believing nobody came back for a second time when that kind of punishment was used. However, having been in receipt of the cane and slipper in my final years at school I am not exactly all in favour of punishment of that nature.

All I recall is that for me it was a matter of both pain and humiliation as the punishment was meted out in front of the whole class!

And there weren't no HSE to protect the recipient.

Or any standard for the executor to abide by, enter the EU.
