Stinky hoover

I got my son a second hand vacuum cleaner bagless and he's just used it and rang to tell me it stinks if sweaty feet when using it. Anyone know of any remedy to stop the smell?

I realise i.ve left this open for jokes but if anyone knows what we can do to stop the smell i.d be grateful lol

We had the same problem except ours smelled of pets. I think it had been repeatedly used to clean a rabbit hutch out. I think the smell has mostly gone away now anyway but we continue to use these:

You can buy Vacuum fresheners in the supermarket and online. They are designed to leave pleasant scent as the daily cleaning progresses think they are called Radvac but there are other makes too.....they smell of lemon or lime

Re: Stinky hoover

Some vacuum cleaners have a very fine filter, basically it's for filtering everything, even pollen. If that is not regularly cleaned then first the suction goes and I guess it could easily then start smelling as the dust within the filter smells of whatever it has been used for vacuuming.

I have a Dyson which requires that filter to be washed out in soapy water once a year at least. A lot of people overlook this requirement. The suction goes and then so does the Dyson as it is believed to be faulty, so a new one is purchased. Someone I know made a lot of money out of picking up these 'faulty' Dysons from here there and everywhere, even dumped at the side of the road. Washing out the filter, servicing them and selling them on as good, secondhand vacuums made him a very nice 'profit'!
