Insincere Promises!

Yes, it's that time again!

Lots of potential Prime Ministers, Cabinet Ministers and MPs who will promise just about anything to get your vote.

In spite of years of broken promises, spoken, written on busses, written on placards, etc. they still think that all they have to do is make some more promises, often with Snake Oil Salesmen voices, to get us to rally behind them so that they can get their rewards.

There must be a way of keeping track of their performances versus their promises.

Have any of them ever been delivered?

Hi

It will be the usual, promise everything, deliver nothing.

Politics is about gaining power by whatever means that are legal and then entering a power market which is all that Westminster has become. In that market deals are done, usually away from the actual market, and takeovers and bids and even sale of virtual stock takes place.

The difference between the financial market and Westminster has all but vanished though it is power rather than money that is traded.

I'm really not looking forward to the next few weeks listening to politicians' rhetoric but I think it will be hard to avoid. When you think back to all the slogans they have come up with in the past, I can't think of one that has ever come true.

Here's a list of all the rubbish they have spouted over the years.

As for election promises, they should be part of a contract. If a builder doesn't build the extension he has promised you, he doesn't get paid or ends up in court. Politicians should be treated in the same way.
