Unusual names.

This week I've been chatting to two different people with unusual first names.

The first was a painter & decorator. A young man called Ezra. I've heard the name before but never actually known an Ezra.

The second was more unusual. A woman I got chatting to at my keep fit class. She told me her name is Dorcas.

I said 'Oh a Dickens character' & she said 'yes'

I don't quite know which Dickens character though but a very unusual name. She said it embarrassed her at school.

So - do you know anybody with unusual names?

There was a girl in my class at school called Dorcas, I used to think it was a lovely name being different from the others of that era.

Yes there's a few in my family. When I was born Roxanne was only heard in Amercia, my daughter is called Regan, one of my niece's is Dakota, another is India, my cousin is Solly, and my mother was Zena.

Have a friend called Joshua.
His good lady is Favour.

I'm not surprised: Dorcas was a 'willing worker'.

I think there's some confusion about Dickens, as there was a "Barkis is willing" in David Copperfield.

I recall really ticking one woman off when I mentioned that King Herod's first wife was called Dorris!

I know of a young lady who's name is Avrilmai. I have never heard that name before. It is certainly unusual but I kind of like it.
