Glue Traps

I don't know whether any of you are aware of these things. I wasn't until yesterday when a local animal rescue charity posted these pictures on Facebook.

Apparently, these things are NOT illegal for general sale. Animals of all sorts (as shown in the pictures) are liable to fall victim. They become attached to the glue strips and, in their desperation to escape, can dislocate or break limbs (and wings). Eventually, of course, they die and in a horrible and no doubt painful way.

I'd be interested to hear members' views.

Re: Glue Traps

Yes, I've seen them JBR.
The animal feed warehouse near me used to sell them a long while back, I don't know if they still do.

The thing is with any sort of trap is it is not 'breed specific.'
Same with putting poison down.

New one on me but I agree with you. They seem very cruel.

Re: Glue Traps

These are incredibly cruel things that I chose not to mention on the "giving gulls laxatives" thread. IMO they are in the same class as gin traps. Using adhesive to capture things is not uncommon though.

Birdlime (no, not the stuff that comes out of the blunt end of a bird - Google it) is used especially but not exclusively in France to capture migratory birds for the table.

Not nice.

Re: Glue Traps

Despicable things by the looks of them. That goes for the use of poisons too.

Any trap designed for pest control should either be humane or at least kill cleanly and painlessly if possible.

Disgusting things! They should certainly be banned.
