Maggie is back

I imagine they will erect a Nigel Farage statue on the white cliffs of Dover shortly but for now Grantham gets Maggie

Grantham Thatcher statue approved despite vandal fears http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-47134760

Plans for a statue of Baroness Thatcher in her home town of Grantham have been approved despite vandalism concerns.
South Kesteven District Council planners voted in favour of the £300,000 statue to be erected on St Peter's Hill in the town.
It comes after a report stated the sculpture could become "a target for politically-motivated vandals".
Lincolnshire Police said they did not oppose the application, but urged appropriate security measures be used.
The 10ft-high statue, which has been privately funded, will be placed on a granite plinth of the same height.
During a planning meeting, committee chairman Martin Wilkins attempted to remind fellow councillors the panel was non-political body.
One councillor said: "This is a statue of Margaret Thatcher, how can it not be political?"
Another councillor, Charmaine Morgan, said she would not vote on the application and spoke against it: "It is currently being held in an out of sight, secret location.
"Perhaps it should stay there."

Re: Maggie is back

I dont live there but if i did would rather the council invested the £300,000 into the emergency services for that area . I thought our counties were struggling for money to keep services running

It's in Brighton so I hear as one of the biggest investors, Geoff somebody or other (forgotten the name), was instrumental in starting the funding campaign.

I did my Training in the WRAF at RAF Spittlegate in Grantham. If I was there now I would salute Maggie every time I passed her statue if in uniform. Just for the Falklands alone.

Re: Maggie is back

I don't see why there should not be a statue of Maggie whatever her politIcal career.
She was the first woman Prime Minister after all .
And what else has Grantham produced ?
It's history .
