Re: The favourite
We went to see 'The Favourite' last Wednesday complete with my large box of Maltesers..
Quite a bit of swearing and sex...
It was okay for something to do out of the cold, but I wouldn't say it was the best film I've seen this year.
In my opinion a good film actually makes you feel something....Happy, Sad, Angry, Frightened, Proud and satisfied.....This film didn't do any of those things I'm afraid, although I can see why Olivia Colman was nominated for an award. An outstanding piece of acting, but my favourite was the Duchess of Marlborough played by Rachel Weiss.
Queen Anne was only on the throne for about twelve years (1702 - 1714) and the film roughly followed the history, but I suppose with all these types of film they have to try and beef it up a bit...A bit of sex or violence usually gets an approving nod from the audience, but just like old posts on here, it will possibly sink without trace in the future, The Maltesers were nice though.....
