A good thing?

We pay enough road tax.

The rip off with the Dartford crossing should be next.

Will bring prises down in Wales

I agree galty. The Dartford crossing toll should have been scrapped years ago. The bridge has been paid for now,

The Mersey Tunnels are the same. It was stated many many years ago they would be free however they are not
Ive just looked on the website to check and for a car its now £1.80 for one trip through. I think it must have been 19 years since I last used them.

Re: A good thing?

Its an even longer time since Ive used the Dartford crossing but £2.80 is steep.
Do they still charge for that bit of the M6 which was supposed to beat the queues around Birmingham. I used that a long time ago and it was really empty.
All this talk of me driving in different places makes me realise how little I travel these days. I need to get out more.

What a dummy your Welsh Minister is, if he had waited a few minutes he could have gone across for nothing.

Re: A good thing?

I was quite shocked when my brother tolled me (geddit?) that your tolls are not automated. I have a device stuck to my windscreen which registers every time I go on a toll road in Sydney or Melbourne and pays the toll, sort of like an Opal/Oyster card.

The E-Toll device is free from the NSW Government and I get a statement every three months. In actual fact I try to avoid toll roads - for example I only ever cross the Harbour Bridge travelling north, if I am going south I go through Ryde to avoid the toll.

I think I was driving from Wollongong to Newcastle towing my camper. I have no idea why they charge a Merchant Fee then credit it back.
