Final Preparations

I'm down to 4 days to departure on my vacation. I'm still tying up loose ends. I checked on insurance for the camera gear I'm toting with me on my upcoming trip to the Canyons of the West. I'm already covered for up to $35,000 because of my apartment insurance. I've always taken that kind of policy because I own a lot of expensive technology and in an apartment house you have less control over your environment than owning your own home. A careless tenant can burn the whole building down, destroying all your treasures.

I need to buy snack foods like fruit for the 18 hour train ride. I have already purchased plenty of beef jerky & mixed nuts. Being a diabetic causes me to take care in what I eat.

I'm preparing an old wallet for this trip. All I want in it is my driver's license, my two credit cards & cash. The same philosophy applies to keys. All I'm carrying is a single door key. The less I carry, the less heartache should I lose stuff.

This is a custom bus. Sometimes we'll sleep onboard, other times we'll camp.

Your holiday has come around quickly Bob - it doen't seem five minutes since you were thinking about it. I hope you have a great time and I am sure you will take some memorable photographs for us all to see. Keep safe and enjoy yourself.

No, no, no, Barry - what Bob really needs is a "Girl Friday" - so I wan't to be in the front of the queue. Sounds a marvellous trip.

Get in line Barry i'm first, and I was a Girl Guide so adept at cooking on a campfire,
.. and I know about rolling back the turf so it doesn't leave a mark
..and I can also sew on buttons and do invisible mending

LOL I don't think you could carry my camping bag Barry. I'm taking a few taxis because it's so heavy.

Re: Final Preparations

I'm sure you are going to have a great time Bob. More years ago than I care to count hubby and I with another couple the pilot and co-pilot flew over the Hoover Dam and down the Grand Canyon in a light aircraft. We landed in a field on a primitive airstrip near the perimeter of the canyon where we walked to the edge of an endless drop no barriers and no commercialization to view the Colorado twisting and slithering like a green snake in the depths below. The Grand Canyon was breath taking the experience was unforgettable and hubby managed to capture it on video but we don't have a video player now so I think he should transfer it to dvd like the other memorable videos that I would like to watch again. We have our own lovely scenery here but nothing on such a grand scale. Have a wonderful adventure and a lovely holiday .
