The Crime of Treason

"The UK is attempting to block the return of at least nine Britons held in Syria over links to Islamic State, according to the Telegraph

It says five suspects - including two members of an IS group dubbed the "Beatles" - have already been named, but the identities of two others, as well as two women and their children, are being protected.

The paper calls on the government to update the crime of treason if it feels there's not enough evidence to try them here.

It quotes a senior official for the semi-autonomous Kurdish enclave in Syria - where many of the fighters are held - as saying Britain should take on its moral and humanistic duty towards its citizens."

Given the news today about the British jihadists who are presently being held in Syria (see above)...do you think it's high time the laws relating to the crime of Treason are updated?

What would you recommend?

Definitely update the laws of treason when it comes to terrorism and serve the appropriate sentence. Where's Henry VIII when you need him.

Re: The Crime of Treason

If they did implement the law of treason there are money maker lawyers just waiting in the wings to defend these traitors who equally could not give a toss about what British life is about or means.

Leave them where they are because if they return they will get some much media blazed sentence that will be an insult to those that they have murdered.

Justice meeting the crime does not get exist anymore

No! They should not be tried here, other than in absentia.

They should never be allowed back here.

As for their women and children, the same.

Let them back and we will just be inviting the development of another generation of terrorists.

They chose to go to Syria and fight for a terrorist organisation. Let them stay there.

What worries me is the phrase, "attempting to block the return..."

Why can't we just do it!

Why fanny around attempting??!!

Hi

There is already a Court case going on in respect of two of them.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...xecution-in-us

As I have stated many times before it is much better that our Politicians keep their gobs shut and let people get on with it.
