Never Take a Copper Home!

I'm fed up with Copper Coins.

I always end up with a heavy pocket and often that heavy pocket needs to be re-stitched!

So I have a plan.

Every time a shop gives me copper coins, in my change, I shall put those copper coins in the Charity box which is often on the counter, or in the next shop I go in!

That way, everybody benefits.

The shop unloads it's copper.
I unload my copper.
The Charities win it all!

If everyone did that it might make a difference.

All of my copper coins go into a plastic tub on my kitchen worktop. When it's full I take it to the local hospice shop.

I think I heard/read that copper coins were to be phased out.

Re: Never Take a Copper Home!

I have been putting my copper change in Charity boxes in supermarkets for years, it's made my purse more manageable now.

It would certainly pay for the Charity's Christmas party.

I'd be happy with that.

As long as the Party is for those who are unpaid for the time they put in.

I doubt if those people get a look in.

What I always do is put the dreadfully inconvenient penny, two pence and five pence pieces into a huge spaghetti jar I keep in the cupboard. (holds about £60) When it is full, we take it to the coin changing machine at Sainsburys and spend it on the groceries that day.

Makes a right noise doesn't it. It's a good idea to wait until the checkout person you don't like is sitting by the machine.

SG, Don’t Sainsbury’s take a percentage of the coins you change? I think Asda do?
