Do you firmly put lids back on things after you have used them?
I do , himself doesn"t , irritating in the extreme !!

I must be truthful here ---not always' especially the paste spreads I have on toast -but I do put it in the fridge .

Depends what it is,Apricot,hairspray lid,no,it never goes back on.most of the lids go back on.

I always put dry goods in containers with tight-fitting lids, if you don't horrible little weevils can get into them...
