I am all for keeping traditions alive but when you see what a mess Appleby is after this event you wander how long it will be tolerated.

Like a lot of things today respect for others has gone out of the window.

This is from 2015 but it will still be the same after this years fair.

Such a shame that such a long tradition dating back to 1685 is marred by scenes like this and eventually it will be stopped from taking place.

There is always an outcry about something or other i.e Motorway tailbacks which as it's only once a year should be absorbed and dealt with. Then there is the accusations of unsocial behaviour and animal cruelty.

All of this is building up for the Appleby Fair to be closed...but knowing the travelling community they will find another place

I have a DVD of the Appleby fair. It shows al the good bits & side, but on one of the Animal rescue progs they went there & the vet inspectors had their work cut out finding injured animals & even dogs being sold which wasn't legal. I don't know how long ago the prog was made nor the DVD.
The fields in that link, Solo look like the aftermath of a pop/rock concert rave.
