Can anyone identify this please?

My next door neighbour came across this item which looks like some kind of fuel gauge or something? We believe could be from a WWII era aircraft, but he wants to know exactly what it is for and even better the aircraft it came from. There are no markings on it. Any ideas?

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section here.

It looks very much like a fuel gage from a WW2 aircraft. I have just looked them up, and some of them look similar to that one.

Great idea, Tabby. Thank you. I'll give my neighbour the link

That's strange.

Looking at the dial, it would suggest it is some sort of flow meter.

However, inside it looks more like a watch movement. There even appears to be a small lever for advance/retard adjustment.

I'd be interested to learn what you find out.

That's what I couldn't make out. Why you would have a watch movement in a fuel gauge.
