silly phrases

I was just thinking about an old friends Mum how passed away a long time ago but I will always remember her for some of the phrases she used to come out with, here are just a few:

ya daft brush
Ya big girls blouse
belt up will tha!
wet be'indt 'ears (wet behind the ears)
daft apeth

Growing up I remember Yorkshire phrases such as:

Stop faffing abart
Shut ya cake 'oil
is a reyt clart eead him tha' nos
put wood int' oil
tha meks a better door than a winder
wa ta born in a field
is a reyt wassak
Moff t'bog
am gonna bray thee

to name a few, a could gu'on forever it's fun remembering 'em.

Its not shut your cake oil, but shut your cake 'ole!!!

Likewise, not put wood in't oil, but put wood in't 'ole, meaning shut bloody door!!!

My dear old grandad always used to tell me and my brother off if we were playing up when he was trying to check his football coupons on a Saturday night.

He used to glare at us and say - " Will you two stop 'anking about."

Never heard anyone but him use that expression, never did really know what it meant.
