Online Divorce

I see in todays paper that the government have made a website where people can do their own divorce online now.
It cost £550.

Good idea, or bad do you think?

Re: Online Divorce

That’s gone up

We divorced mr missy’s first wife in the 90s using papers we downloaded online for free. I think it cost £35 to have them checked over at the court and the divorce to be issued

Was a very simple process and the court clerk was most impressed with the forms we submitted, said they were clearer then the ones the court issued

With this method, apparently you even get your decree nisi sent to you 6 weeks afterwards too.

Re: Online Divorce

hey I never heard of that either. I never knew it was that easy to get divorced

I think the younger generation don't fight for their marriages like we did in our day and this makes it easier for them to give up, get divorced and move on. I'm so glad my husband and I went through tough times as well as good, it brought us closer together and made our marriage stronger. If I was in an awful, abusive marriage I would use that website though.

Yep

We took the papers into the Court Clerk who checked they were all correct and we were issued with a court date for the hearing which no one had to attend and then because the ex signed the paper work and didn't contest, the decree nisi was issued and six weeks later the decree absolute came through the post

Absolutely painless

However saying that , the children were over 16 and had left education so we no longer supported them, in fact both had left home and were on their own two feet so the divorce was straightforward

Likewise. It is far too easy to walk away, takes much more to work it out.
